The size of the Solar Array, Wind Generator, and/or
Hydro Turbine is determined by the Load Analysis and the Load Correction
Factor (in order to compensate for efficiency losses in the system). Sundance
suggests a professional System Sizing.
Grid-Tied Array Sizing
- Refer to a Solar
Insolation Chart to determine the average
peak sun hours per day for your location
- For example, the average
in North Carolina is 4.5 peak
sun hours
- To calculate the sustem size (AC Watts) to provide 100% of your electricity you divide your average electricity use by the average sun hours per day.
- For example, if the average daily electricity use is 30kWh, and the site is in NC, the system size would be: 30kWh/4.5h=6.6kW AC
- Divide the System AC Watts by the Watt Rating
of the PV Module
- Divide by the Inverter Efficiency (Usually
94%) to get the Total Number of Modules Required
- For example, 6.6 k/W AC / 120W (Kyocera
KC120) / .94 = 58 Modules
